Uzbekistan

The heart of the Silk Route unveils an incredible ensemble of hidden treasures that will delight the most discerning travelers.

Located in the heart of central Asia, Uzbekistan is probably the most popular stop in the Silk Route. Its strategic location turned the country into a must stop for the caravans that traded between Europe and Asia during the Mogul empire.

Despite the deterioration of the Silk Route after 15th century, Uzbekistan reawakened. Behind its fortresses we find precious cities with shiny blue domes, noisy markets or old workshops where jewelers, potters and weavers still work like in the old times.

The soviet spirit that we can still observe in the capital, Tashkent, disappears once you immerse in the local Uzbek culture and travel through the old Silk Route. The oasis of Khiva, almost bordering with Turkmenistan, contrasts with the bustling markets of Bukhara or the powerful silence around the stunning Registan square in Samarkand.
